Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Absolutely wrong to use a Flying pet as the second pet. TBH Teroclaw Hatchling is highly overrated for this dungeon, so is the Brilliant Kaliri in the other strat. Use something with a dragonkin attack instead

He may be wrong, but he got me through the battle and I appreciate that :)

Out of curiosity why use Thunderbolt with the Dragonling? It does about ~250 damage (instead of the listed ~550 damage). Doing Breath causes more damage. Wasn't sure if there was a particular reason or anything.

Xarx wrote on 2021-07-18 16:49:28

Thunderbolt has a steady constant damage which this boss divides in half. Breath has a less consistent RANGE of damages divided in half. Over time, statistically Thunderbolt will show better results bc its basic damage is at the top of end of Breath's *potential max damage*. The different is only likely within 10-20hp in the long run but that's the mathematical reason if you were genuinely curious.

Dragonling Soloed, works in shadowlands. I used a waterfly for third pet cause Im paranoid but didnt need it at all.

"If you are unlucky, bring in your Teroclaw Hatchling and use Dodge + Alpha Strike"

And if you're really unlucky, you get stunned at just the worst moments + opponent gets enough crits that you end up with the third random pet on the field trying to finish the fight... Which is terrible when it's randomised, because there's no control over it then.

This strat definitely needs to be updated with a proper third pet, in case of bad RNG.

HA! Glad to see the comments again.
4 times we use Teroclaw Hatchling in this dungeon. That might have been a mistake?

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2020-06-20 01:40:10

They are likely all strats from different people. When they come from different people, they don't have to observe pet usage from other strategies.

somarir wrote on 2020-06-20 08:10:17

The teroclaw is just too good. It will stay full HP for the full dungeon if you use it right.

Carrotz

wrote on 2020-08-12 23:27:33

Somarir is correct. I've used these strategies with the same Teroclaw and he's nearly full health the entire time.

Naraani wrote on 2020-04-21 01:57:28

Or....if you don't have any of these, you can start with emerald proto, which gets knocked out, swap to nexus whelpling, use arcane storm which makes food coma useless. I used 1 emerald proto and 2 nexus. they all lived:)

Used a Zandalari Kneebiter as 2nd pet, with script:

standby [ self.aura(926).exists & self.speed.fast ]
ability(334)
ability(779)
ability(115)
change(#2)
ability(Black Claw:919) [!self.aura(Black Claw:918).exists]
ability(Hunting Party:921)
ability(Leap:364)

iceshayde

wrote on 2019-10-11 13:52:36

This strat works perfect for me... but TD script should use:
ability(Black Claw:919) [!enemy.aura(Black Claw:918).exists]
Currently it's checking for black claw on you, not the enemy.

I use Hyjal Wisp as my spare pet. After MPD takes the first sleep & has roughly 650 HP left, I bring in my Wisp - Evanescence & Wish, then bring back the MPD whose Decoy is available again to use straight away. Decoy brushes off the next Sleep attempt & Wish 'blooms' on MPD & finish the fight on 80+% HP. Ok, it adds to the fight, but feels good!

Angelakane wrote on 2019-06-10 16:33:19

My level 19 snail got 339 exp with hat - not worth it imo

Berendain

wrote on 2019-01-05 11:25:11

What a boring boss. Nothing against the strat, just a let down when compared to Wailing Caverns and Gnomeregan. The last two bosses of the other dungeons can be killed without significant trouble using unique or interesting strategies, but this boss is just beaten by standard strong pets that do damage.

Dor wrote on 2019-01-01 01:26:21

I used Twilight Clutch Sister for my backup instead of Teroclaw, with Phase Shift and Tail Swipe. MPD almost carries anyway, and then you don't have to be so careful with Teroclaw earlier.

MolsonofAle wrote on 2018-12-31 23:52:27

Usually when I see a 5 and 8 round cool down on a move and the strat says "use on cool down" i laugh. You don't usually get to use those again. On this however I did. MPD still didn't survive the fight but the Teroclaw finished it.

Hassilhoff wrote on 2018-11-28 13:37:51

I used Darkmoon Zepplin and Darkmoon Tonk
Missle until leftovers second round of stun, then decoy and missle until Darkmoon zepplin respawns. Then explode, finish him off with Darkmoon tonks Ion ability.

Corgi

My problem with the string of battles here is that you use the Teroclaw Hatchling 5 times, and we're only allowed 3.

Corgi

wrote on 2018-09-05 12:37:23

Correction, 6!

Amber1019

wrote on 2018-09-29 17:07:32

I was still able to use the alternatives for the majority of the fights. I have 3 max level Teroclaw Hatchlings, but ended up only using 1 of them. For this fight. But I didn't even look into the alternatives on this site for this, so it's possible I may not have even needed it for this fight. What I'm saying is, definitely look into the alternatives for each fight. Some of them are just as good, if not better, than the first team that shows.

Entmoot

wrote on 2018-11-25 10:25:36

The way your Teroclaw Hatchling is used in these fights is designed to keep it alive for multiple fights. It shouldn't die after the first, second, or even third time you use it if you follow the steps properly
