Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 20+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Help please. I was able to fight Bredda last year when I was with a friend. Since then, nothing. How do I find out when she’ll be there? Are there specific dates like with Squirt? Also, how much reputation do I need with Highmountain (if that makes any difference.) Thank you.

Gráinne

wrote on 2023-08-05 05:15:29

Nobody knows in advance when she will appear. The Legion tamers all appear every week or two, but at random.

The best way to know, of course, is to log in to the game and check for the world quest on your Highmountain map, but this site shows what Legion tamers are up today on the top left of the main page. Wowhead also shows today's tamers on their front page- see the Today in WoW feature and pick your Region and Legion.

Highmountain rep doesn't matter at all. Bredda is available to everybody, whether they did Legion or not.

I can't get the first strat to load. I liked you aite a lot better before you got all fancy. There is something to be said for plain and simple .... things like "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Maybe you could post instructions on how to switch between starts for us old folks. Holding the cursor over things dies nothing, clicking on everything but the pets does nothing, click on a pet opens the wowhead page for that pet. Bummer, no?

Hovering the cursor over the word "Alternatives" on the blue tab at the right-hand side brings up the list of strategies. It may take a second or two if your browser is slow.

I only gave you 1 star because you need to tag it as LONG and RNG, if you put those tags I will give you 4 stars.

paladriel

wrote on 2020-08-13 22:28:28

This should be tagged RNG because it depends on if "spectral spine" blinds you (%50) and how many times this happen, also when you are blinded your next move has %50 less hit chance and spectral strike hit you %100. so sometimes your emerald proto-drake takes more hits than it can heal.

Anonymous wrote on 2020-09-29 17:46:13

yep. rabbit + emerald is broken ... when your Dragonkin gets hit twice by spectral STRIKE. It has 50% on its own to hit plus the 50% chance to get blinded and then get hit for sure. That results in 75% chance to fail the fight, right?
And also: What's with the lvl 20 requirement for the level pet? It never takes a hit, so it can be lvl 1? (edited)

Posting this from Wowhead by SaltyGoldfish . This fight needs a better 2 pet strat

Reasonably reliable 2-pet strategy (it takes out most of the RNG, should work about 9 times out of 10):

Spectral Porcupette (abilities: Powerball--- Spirit Spikes--- Spectral Spine)
Blighted Squirrel breed P/S (abilities: Scratch--- Crouch--- Stampede)
Carry Pet level 16+ (it can take up to 612 (918) flying damage, dont use aquatic pets, magic or mechanical can be level 1)

Round 01: Powerball
Round 02: Spirit Spikes
Round 03: Powerball
Round 04: switch Blighted Squirrel
Round 05: Crouch
Round 06: Pass
Round 07: Scratch--------- Lil' Spirit Guide undead round
Round 08: Pass----------------- Lil' Spirit Guide dies
Round 09: Stampede--------------- Blighted Squirrel undead round
Round 10: Stampede--------------- Blighted Squirrel dies, choose Spectral Porcupette (if Stampede missed 3 times, reset)
Round 11: Spirit Spikes
Round 12: Powerball----------------- Quillino dies, if not, use one more Powerball
Round 13: Spectral Spine
Round 14: switch Carry Pet
Round 15: switch Spectral Porcupette
Round 16: Spirit Spikes
Round 17: Powerball
Round 18: Spectral Spine end

Agreed, i like this as a leveling strat way more than the main strat (which doesn't always work and wastes leveling opportunities) and the listed Alt which can be a little RNG dependent. This trat needs to be its own alt.

Round 1: Use a damage move
Round 2: switch to Mojo

I've been using this same strat for months. Think the original post I saw was for a Tree Frog but Mojo works perfectly. Still a bit of RNG but 90+% of the time it works beautifully. Just have to make sure the level pet can take that 1st hit from Lil' Spirit Guide. Not sure why the strat hasn't gotten an 'official' alternative listing.

Murakumo wrote on 2018-09-14 13:03:17

Can anyone make a script for this strat?

thrinetu45

wrote on 2018-09-19 17:52:44

first off, the upside to this strat is that it allows for a lower lvl pet, the downside is its winrate over 13 battles for me was only 62%. in any case heres the rematch string
Bredda Tenderhide:30O5:ZL:212955:1225QC:P:441::::::
and the td script (it can probably be improved, but i'm only so-so with td scripting)
quit [ self(#1).dead]
change(#2) [round=2]
ability(#1) [self(#1).active]
ability(Healing Wave) [enemy.aura(Undead).exists]

Not having Mojo, I used a Leopard Tree Frog and it worked well. I leveled a Mountain Cottontail in first place, and he actually had to finish the fight. Thanks for the strategy.

Cinprinsys wrote on 2018-07-05 23:04:28

Wtf? Did you forget that she has 3 pets, not 2? This strategy does not work. You can take down the first 2 with this strat, but can't take out the 3rd with a lvling pet. Plus on Wowhead you said Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling not Emerald Proto-Whelp.

When the rabbit dies, your leveling pet comes in. In next round you change to Emerald Proto-Whelp. I did tested this strategy today multiple times during writing a TD Script and it dit not failed.

My opinion: I think its better to Flurry 3 times after the Dodge on the spirit, instead of only 2, then use the Burrow. This way the rabbit evades the undead skill, turning it undead, making Quillino's main attack to hit like a truck.

Kessyra wrote on 2017-07-05 12:27:11

I agree! This helped a lot.
Flurry 3 times after Dodge, then burrow - mine ended up hitting quillano.

Also, replace Emerald Bite with Breath on the Emerald Whelp to kill Quillano quickly. :)

Dysphoric wrote on 2017-11-12 15:17:46

New TD script with these two changes in place

ability(Dodge) [round=1]
ability(Flurry) [round<=4]
ability(Burrow) [round=5]
ability(Flurry) [!enemy.aura(Undead).exists]
ability(Dodge) [enemy.aura(Undead).exists]
change(#2) [!self(#2).played]
change(#3)
ability(Emerald Presence) [!self.aura(Emerald Presence).exists]
ability(Emerald Dream) [self.aura(Emerald Presence).duration=5]
ability(Breath)

These two changes seem to make this a very reliable strategy for leveling a pet on this fight.

I leveled one pet lvl1 with this

I have tried this fight several ways now. i am going to have to second Tormentia's comment on page 1 - An S/B rabbit and a P/P EPW will allow you to follow the strat as written. I do back up the comments that say 3 flurries and breath instead of bite though *IF* you are using an S/S rabbit. The two combos do work, but depending on the breed of rabbit and whelp its a little different.

"We should have cow pets." We do! :) My Pygmy Cow would very much like to have a word with you about things bovine.

Mnejing wrote on 2017-10-14 19:15:58

Modification from original strat based on other comments that feels far more consistent.
S/S Rabbit 2,2,1
Carry Pet
P/S Emerald Proto 1/2/2 (not 2/2/2). Emerald Bite is better for Fethyr, but Quillino is the more dangerous pet here, it needs to go down fast. Fethyr is not particularly dangerous.

Turn 1: Dodge
Turn 2+: Flurry until Spirit Guide goes undead
Then: Burrow, which should hit Quillino.
Then: Flurry until Rabbit dies
Swap to carry pet
Swap to Emerald Proto-drake
Turn 1: Emerald Presence
Turn 2-4: Emerald Dream
Turn 3: Breath
Turn 4: Breath
Repeat until finished.

I now changed this strategy according to Schahmaars suggestion. It becomes a lot more lengthy but hopefully more reliable. I will add more non-level-pet strategies here, because the fight is decisively too hard to level a pet ^^

Elesack wrote on 2016-10-10 23:25:07

We do have cow pets Xu-.... the Pygmy Cow upstairs in the Garrison Barn 3, from a hidden bottle of Milk.

This strat worked well, I had a lv 12 carry pet and it was fine!

Macgam wrote on 2016-10-24 14:03:20

Burrow in Rd 1 and Dodge in R5 always seems to work better for me. The rest of the fight is iffy, but found best of luck with Health type Hare/Rabbit. EPW final victories were with P/P breed and just making to Emerald Presence during lift off. I also tried to have xp x 20 eat the Spectral Spine (Blind?) from Quilllino. Again XuFu, thanks for this awesome guide.

Ariellè wrote on 2017-11-26 19:15:08

This strat is doable with a lvl 5 pet, does not need to be level 20. Gains 7 levels without a safari hat

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-25 00:33:24

proto dies to 2nd all the time. Need another tactic for us that cant make this work. Changed to breath, changed to SS rabbit and SB rabbit no luck, Quillino always kills proto before this heal is back up, just mashes him and puts blind on so breath misses the 2 times you use it. Rabbit was not my issue at all, 3 hits on Quillino but still barely 50%.

Tormentia-Kul Tiras wrote on 2017-08-22 13:21:56

What breed of Proto-Whelp are you using? I use and S/B rabbit and a P/P Proto-Whelp and have never had this strat fail.

Mnejing wrote on 2017-10-14 19:08:53

P/S Proto can't survive for me. Dies on the second run through of the rotation consistently.

Valette wrote on 2017-10-14 05:46:51

What I did to make this strat work every time (atleast so far) was to change emerald bite out with breath. And then flurry 3 times instead of 2 before using burrow against lil spirit. Then when emerald proto-drake comes out, I breath until Quillino is dead, then start using the sequence in the guide. It does take a while to kill Fethyr, but it works atleast. This also allowed me to use a level 1 leveling pet
Used p/p proto and s/b rabbit.

katiefraggle wrote on 2017-10-14 16:29:34

This worked well, I second this. S/S spring rabbit (I feel an S/B would be better). But most definitely 3 flurries and the breath on EPW. =)

Ralthor wrote on 2017-06-19 14:08:25

Tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried... Quillino ALWAYS kills my whelp. Moving on.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-06-19 08:45:53

This strategy works well if you switch out Emerald Bite with Breath on the whelp. Breath is strong vs Quillino, which is the one you want to burst down. Emerald Bite is strong vs Fethyr, but his abilities are weak vs the whelp so there's not really any need to have Emerald Bite vs him. I had much better results doing this, though the fight may become a little more lengthy due to Fethyr's heal.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-20 00:15:59

they need to change the tooltip of spectral strike, theres a typo, see it says 50% hit chance but it means 100%

Summer wrote on 2017-01-25 22:50:06

This does work. You just need to make sure you have a rabbit with a speed of at least 360+, otherwise it will fail easily. I got away with my rabbit being 357.

Amynnassa wrote on 2017-05-19 21:13:29

Got away with a 325 rabbit. Definitely a lot less dicey than the one that Rematch loaded.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-19 14:25:11

This is probably the worst strategy among all the world quests right now.

Totally dependent on stats (with no warning on the strat), and even then it doesn't work the vast majority of the time.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-31 17:10:02

Could you also start doing strategies for the four different Hatchling Quests across all quests? So many wowhead ones are complete garbage.

thebl4ckd0g wrote on 2017-01-31 22:47:17

this so much please. it also relies on pets not many have unless they are hardcore collectors. one of them suggest xu-fu, which granted some hardcore collectors have at this point, but more casual players aren't going to have that one. I tried to use Widget the Departed instead, but still die on her 2nd pet. :(

We'll be working on Falcosaur strategies soon! In the meanwhile, you might find good strategies on wowhead :-)

Tyrsa wrote on 2017-02-08 21:15:38

You can wing most of the quests.
The ones that send you to fight wild pets are easy enough, the falcosaurs are really powerful pets (think Zandalari) and can usually take out at least 2 if not all 3 wild pets easily.
For the later part of each chain, there's a quest for each that involves winning 3 WQ with the falcosaur and specific pets - depending which WQs are up, use a leveling pet strategy from the Family Familiar section, subbing in the appropriate Falcosaur for one of the pets. You might have to wait for a second day's set of quests if the WQs that are up are impossible to sub into (maybe the Felsoul Hold WQ would fall into this category).
I also learned that for those quests involving completing 3 WQs - they have to be different ones. Logging an alt to repeat one you just did will NOT work.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-25 16:05:55

This strategy worked first time. But that was the ONLY time. Very RNG depended.
Won 1 out of 9 fights.
(Quillino's 50% chance to hit is more actually 80%). This strategy is not recommended.

platetits wrote on 2017-01-20 14:21:28

The rabbit has to be above 311 to go first on the 2nd pet. I got it 2nd pet to more than 50%, however 2nd pet kills my proto. I used a faster Emerald Whelping and at least got to the hawk. But still continuous die to the hawk after these adjustments.

Bix wrote on 2017-01-15 18:47:25

It works but you need your rabbit to be able to hit the second pet twice I'd say, for this you need to be able to land 3-hit flurries. Spirit Guide is slow so np, but Quillino has speed 311, so you need a rabbit with higher speed than that, and possibly with the highest attack power. I used a S/B Olivetail Hare, and managed to land 2 flurries on Quillino, and that did the trick.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-08 13:46:03

Tried this 5 times now and Quillino kills my Proto-Whelp every time.

Cy wrote on 2016-12-30 13:14:13

This worked well for me the first time. My rabbit got lucky and was able to take out the first two, then swap in the level, and swap back to take the hit from lift-off. Emerald took out the bird in three bites. The second time on a diff char, the rabbit died with quillino 2/3 health and he was able to take out my Emerald. :(

Killed first time..great strat! Thank you!

Daedrynn wrote on 2016-10-25 04:12:50

Here's a more reliable strat to level a pet. You need to start with a pet that has at least 440 HP. Also use Wood Frog (2,1,2) or any frog with at least 280 speed. The third pet is Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1,2,2).

Level pet (440+ HP)
- cast one damaging spell
- swap to Wood Frog.
- Swarm of Flies
- Healing Wave as needed.
- spam Tongue Lash
- first enemy will die. If it looks like it might kill you in the resurrect round, reapply Swarm of Flies before you die. Otherwise, reapply Swarm to second pet.
- Tongue Lash until frog dies.
- Swap to Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling.
- Breath until second enemy dies.
- Third enemy comes in.
- Decoy
- Thunderbolt
- spam Breath for the win.

Koltrak wrote on 2016-11-01 13:56:09

That is way better, thx :)

Solitha wrote on 2016-11-02 05:25:37

This worked great for the falcosaur, although I didn't get to refresh Swarm and ended up having to get the last shot in with the falco. Bredda is the most frustrating fight for me.

Daedrynn wrote on 2016-11-05 18:34:38

Remember, you do NOT have to have your Falcosaur in the battle. Just needs to be summoned. I have completed all four Team Up quests without a Falco in a single battle.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-11-05 14:49:17

Yea this doesn't work, tried 10 times for my falcosuar quest

Nynaevesedai wrote on 2016-11-01 18:40:10

While working on my falconsuar i have found that the strat with the Hare and E. Proto works fine. Since you have to use the falconsaur first, using the crit for 3 turns ability they have, I have found that you should flurry after switching on turn 2 to hare until the immortal phase (without using dodge) then burrow to ignore it and get a free hit on the second pet. Use dodge then flurry till dead, switching to E. Proto. FInish the second pet as listed. third pet will always use Lift-Off on so use Emerald Presence during it, offsetting the second emerald bite so it turns into EP, EB, ED, EB, EP, EB, ED, EB. had issues on several turns doing this.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-11-01 21:25:47

You don't need to use the falconsaur first it just has to be in the party and also summoned as a companion

Fragie wrote on 2016-11-01 14:48:52

Completly not working strategy. My Proto Drake die on 2x Bite... I try 3 times and same effect Drake die on 2x Bite

Schahmaar wrote on 2016-09-26 23:54:03

Now, here comes the Matchwinner....

And the Winner is: Emerald Proto Whelp

First part with Bunny as written before:

1. Burrow
2. Flurry
3. Flurry
4. Dodge
5. Flurry -> first Opponent dies and ressurects
6. Burrow -> first Opponent dies, Burrow hits second opponent and Bunny dies (or maybe survives[ for me with H/S Bunny] then Flurry once more)
7. Bring in LvL-Pet (LvL 1)
8. Bring in Emerald Proto Whelp (2/2/2)
9. Emerald Presence
10. Emerald Dream (very likely)
11. Emerald Bite
12. Rinse and repeat (the general Emerald strategy)

Slow, but works reliably

Swyftlyght wrote on 2016-09-13 02:56:06

This strategy seems very rng dependent. My first three tries completely failed -- my mechanical pandaren dragonling got blinded, and my level 21-24 levelling pets were demolished by Fethyr. The fourth time, I replaced a levelling pet with a nexus whelpling and got amazingly good rng. My Tolal Hare (H/P) defeated the first 2 pets, leaving only Fethyr to finish off.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-09-14 00:50:13
